In May 2016, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published a rule entitled “Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses” with an effective date of January 1, 2017 for the final rule’s electronic reporting requirements. The final rule set an initial deadline of July 1, 2017, but was delayed until December 15, 2017. Employers covered by the recordkeeping regulation with 20 or more employees must submit 2016 information from 300A by December 15, 2017.
Going forward, the deadlines and required information are as follows:
- Employers with 250 employees or more must submit 2017 information from forms 300A, 300, and 301 by July 1, 2018.
- Employers with 20-249 employees must submit 2017 information from form 300A by July 1, 2018.
- Beginning in 2019 and beyond, information submissions are due by March 2.
- OSHA State Plan states must adopt requirements that are substantially identical to the requirements in this final rule within 6 months after publication of this final rule.
